Antique Mercury Glass Madonna and Child Statue & Brussels Lace Point de Rose

This is a set of a previously listed antique Mercury glass statue of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus and Point de Rose lace. Please excuse any errors in the amateur measurements of these handmade items.

1. Antique French Mercury Glass Statue of the Virgin Mary Holding Baby Jesus

A rare French Mercury glass piece.
This is a statue of the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes.
Likely from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
This is a glass manufacturing technique called Mercury glass, where mercury is applied to the inside of the glass statue.
The mercury coating on the inside of the glass emits a unique color and luster.
The radiance of the glass, seen through the mercury, creates a truly beautiful appearance.
It changes color with light and light sources, appearing mystical and fantastical.
The rounded, gentle curves convey a peaceful, serene, and tranquil style.
The maternal love and affection of the Virgin Mary holding her baby Jesus are palpable.

There is peeling of the mercury and color shifts, with multiple areas of verdigris, black, white, translucent patches, and stains.
We hope that those who appreciate the patina and depth brought by time will enjoy this piece.
Statues of the Virgin Mary holding Jesus are rare.
This was a gift, but I already own other Virgin Mary statues, so I am selling it as part of decluttering.

2. Antique Brussels Lace, Point de Rose, Bobbin Lace with Blue Fabric for Framing

A beautiful antique lace from Belgium, dating from the early to late 18th century.
A delicate and elegant miniature artwork of bobbin lace and needlework, handmade.
Likely made using the Brussels lace or French Point de Paris technique.
Features three large old roses and three smaller old roses.
Gracefully spreading leaves.
Motifs are three-dimensionally embroidered onto a tulle lace made of micron-thin threads.
Pale beige & light sepia tones, light greige.
Made with very fine linen or silk threads with a smooth texture.
The motifs are embroidered with threads stronger than the tulle, making the outlines of the petals and leaves stand out in three dimensions, enhancing their impact.

Likely part of a collar.

There are gaps and small tears in the tulle in two places near the edge.
The uneven yellow/brown discoloration in some areas is likely due to age.
The quality and feel of the threads are best preserved without bleaching.
Also suitable for the dresses of bisque dolls!
