Antique French Point de Paris Art Nouveau Floral Mesh Lace Doily

A beautiful antique from France.
This is a chic and elegant round doily with a floral pattern woven throughout using the Point de Paris technique of bobbin lace.

The design features Art Nouveau-inspired motifs from the late 1800s to the 1920s.

Plants gracefully curve their stems and delicately spread their flowers and leaves. The relief is woven with varying densities to create a sense of depth and dimension, as if rising and emerging.

Roses, lilies, tulips, cornflowers... it's like a garden or field in bloom, just as nature intended.

The trim is densely woven with reliefs of flowers and leaves, such as sunflowers and lilies, all around the edge, with meticulous detail in every corner.

The edge is delicately finished with a small picot lace embroidery.

The mesh base is a diagonal lattice, a net weave created by crossing threads twice, resembling a Star of David. It is also robust and strong.

The color is an ivory with a slight yellowish tint, a nuanced ecru.

It is very smooth and supple, cool to the touch, firm, and elastic. It also has a slight crispness, suggesting the material is linen. A faint sheen and luster can be felt in both the base and outline threads.

There is little difference from the front, and both sides are beautiful.

The small doily photographed with it is Belgian Flemish lace.
The lacy trim is bobbin lace, with a similar taste to this one.
