Vintage Antique Sash Slide Buckle Art Nouveau 4" Repousse Artisan Crafted Brass

Offered is a stunning, antique statement sash buckle from the late Victorian / Art Nouveau era (circa 1890–1910). This heavy, solid brass collector's piece features a breathtaking, asymmetrical river stone or mango silhouette covered in meticulously hand-engraved, repousse-style floral patterns on a stippled background. The craftsmanship is quite exceptional and the brass of such high quality and purity, that the polished, rich metal surface mimics the appearance and warm glow of solid gold.  Design & Mechanics:  Unlike hook & loop hardware, this handcrafted piece features an open-back, double-bar friction slide configuration.  It was specifically made for wide, luxurious Victorian and Edwardian fabric sashes—such as velvet, woven silk, or supple leather.  Fabric end of choice is threaded under the set of back loops on each side, over the inner bar, under the outer bar and pulled tight. The tension of the fabric against the brass bars creates a secure, adjustable friction lock to cinch the waist without needing prongs or holes.  Specs:  100% non-magnetic solid smooth polished high-grade brass (both the face and the slide loops).  It is in excellent antique condition with no broken welds or repairs.    Measurements:  3.75 long x 3 tall; bars are 2 and 1.5 apart to accommodate most fabrics.  Provenance: Lovingly preserved by its previous owner as an heirloom and stored safely in a jewelry box for decades.
