During this period, Coltrane was in a transitional phase moving from modal jazz to free jazz, characterized by highly energetic performances.

Rare Live Recording of A Love Supreme: The live performance in Antibes in 1965, shortly after the studio album's release, is part of a tour where Coltrane is said to have performed the entire suite live only once. It features a very aggressive performance.

The 1961 German session features a quintet including Eric Dolphy, showcasing stimulating ensemble work from a period moving towards a freer approach from modal jazz.

This is a superb sound that allows you to directly feel the excitement and improvisational brilliance unique to live performances of that era. A must-have for fans. Extremely difficult to obtain now.
