Antique L. Bernardaud Limoges Berry Bowls - Pink Roses, Gold Gilt (Set of 4)

A stunning set of four antique porcelain berry bowls (or individual fruit dishes) from the renowned L. Bernardaud & Co. of Limoges, France. These pieces feature a delicate, hand-painted motif of trailing pink roses and green foliage on a crisp white porcelain ground. The scalloped edges are elegantly finished with a fine gold gilded rim. Each bowl bears the dual manufacturer marks: a green underglaze B & Co. France mark and a red overglaze L. Bernardaud & Co. Limoges decorating mark. This combination dates the set precisely to the transition period of 1900, making them over 120 years old. They are all in great condition but one does have a chip on the underside which cannot be seen from the front. See last two pictures. They measure 5 inches in diameter—perfect for desserts, fruit, or as elegant nut dishes. Collectors Note: These transition pieces represent the era when Léonard Bernardaud officially took control of the factory from R. Delinières. They are a must-have for completing a Victorian or Edwardian-era Limoges dinner service.
