Vintage Pair Beaded Wire Votive Candle Holder Crystal Cut Glass Cottage Shabby

Pair of vintage Queen Anne Victorian style vintage beaded-wire candle holders with cut glass hurricane votive cup shades and hanging crystal prisms. Painted cream metal base wrapped in clear glass seed beads with faceted prism drops.  These come out of the Italian beaded candelabra tradition, the Murano and Venetian schools that trace back to the 18th century when glass artisans wire-wrapped seed beads around iron armatures to imitate chandelier crystal for smaller domestic pieces. This American cottage revival dates to the 1990s, when Rachel Ashwell's shabby chic movement pulled the style back into interiors. Fine wire wrapped in clear glass seed beads, faceted teardrop prisms at the collar, cut-glass hurricane shades, cream cast bases. Sold as a pair.
