Vintage NASCO Mountain Woodland Salt Pepper Shakers Caddy Transferware Japan

This wonderfully nostalgic vintage salt and pepper set is by Nasco in the discontinued Mountain Wood-Land pattern. The set includes two small jug shaped shakers marked “S” and “P,” displayed in their matching ceramic caddy. The brown transfer decoration features a storybook country landscape of cottages, trees, water, and flowers, accented with touches of blue, green, and yellow. The caddy is marked NASCO MOUNTAIN WOOD-LAND on the underside. Reference sources identify the pattern as Japanese made and dating to the mid-20th century, likely the 1950s. The set is in very good vintage condition (no chips or cracks). There is age related crazing and very light wear to the surface and transfer decoration. Both cork stoppers are missing from the filling openings on the bottoms of the shakers. Please examine all photographs closely, as they are an important part of the condition description.
