Description
Type: Clarinet
Accessories/Parts: Case
Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Manufacturer: Martin Freres
Body: Grenadilla wood
Key: Nickel-plated

This is a Martin Freres 1740 French-made clarinet.
It was produced between 1946 and the 1960s, making it over 60 years old.
It appears that Nonaka Boeki imported and sold these in Japan at the time.

When I acquired it, there were some minor dirt and key tarnish, but no noticeable damage or scratches on the body or keys.
It shows little signs of use and appears to have been stored for a long time after minimal use.

After acquiring it, I disassembled and inspected it, then cleaned and polished the body and keys.
The key spring pins are made of blue steel.
I checked the condition of the pads.
Six pads in poor condition were replaced.
Key oil was applied and adjustments were made during reassembly.
Bore oil was applied to the inside of the woodwind.
There are no cracks or repairs on the woodwind.
There are few scratches, and considering its age, I believe it is in good condition.
A simple sound check was performed.
The included mouthpiece is old and difficult to control pitch, so I used my usual Vandoren 5RV for the sound check.
I am selling it because I have accumulated too many instruments.

Contents:
Clarinet body
Mouthpiece: Manufacturer unknown, appears to be old.
Engraved with X3 on the bottom.
We recommend using a mouthpiece you are accustomed to for playing.
Ligature: Manufacturer unknown, nickel-plated, engraved MADE IN FRANCE.
Hard case: Generic, appears to be from the era.

As I am a beginner player, I cannot confirm all scales, so please have a professional adjust the keys and pads before use.
As this is an old item, please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about minor scratches or dirt.
We ask for your understanding.
