Description

Suunto A-10 Compass
Purchased for mountain climbing but never used.
Comes without the original box or packaging.

◾︎ Minimalist baseplate compass for hikers and scouts
Quick to operate, simple, and accurate, the A-10 baseplate compass is easy to learn and ideal for map and compass navigation. For distance calculation, the A-10 features metric and imperial scales printed in red for visibility on topographic maps.
The Earth's magnetic field is not uniformly distributed between the magnetic poles. To overcome this, the A-10 has two types of needles: one for the Northern Hemisphere and one for the Southern Hemisphere.
The Earth's magnetic field is not uniformly distributed between the magnetic poles. To compensate for the natural declination of the magnetic field, Suunto compasses use one of two balancing systems, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your needs.
One is a dual-zone system that balances the needle in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The second is our unique global balancing system. A single needle is balanced and works anywhere in the world. This is made possible by an innovative design that allows the needle and magnet to be tilted separately.
