Description
Price reduction for July only.
I am offering a French oboe (historical instrument) from around 1830 for sale due to collection consolidation.
It was crafted 200 years ago in Lyon, France, during the early Romantic period. The Lyon workshop followed Triebert's System 3 while incorporating beautiful, conservative French Baroque ornamentation.
The instrument features a Low B♭ key to cover the range needed for performing works by Bizet and Rossini at the Lyon Opera, and the adoption of Brod's rocker keys demonstrates the ingenuity employed to closely match the ever-changing musical styles.
Above all, its sophisticated design is quintessentially French.
It is suitable for performing French opera, as well as early works by Schubert and Schumann. Of course, using it for Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 Eroica would be truly authentic.
It was successfully bid on at a renowned international auction house for £4100 (¥768,000).
Including the 8% buyer's premium, 10% customs duty, and insured shipping costs of ¥50,000, the total cost was approximately ¥900,000.
As the period approach gains momentum, there is increasing interest in historical instruments.
Coupled with the historically weak yen, it is extremely rare to find an instrument from this era that is still playable.
