Thank you for your patience. This is a plastic (hardened bakelite) body English horn.

This model offers exceptional cost performance, featuring numerous optional keys typically found on high-end instruments, despite its affordable price.
Hardened bakelite is shatterproof and has a specific gravity equal to or greater than grenadilla. Unlike traditional plastic instruments, it completely avoids the issue of good projection but a light, cheap-sounding playing feel. Instead, the moderate resistance aids in producing both high and low notes, making it an excellent material for wind instruments.

This particular instrument has been specially equipped with high-quality cork pads, usually found on advanced models or European-made instruments. (This has slightly increased the price.) I believe this attention to detail is the most significant factor in creating a superior instrument.

With this one instrument, your opportunities for ensemble playing, concert bands, and orchestral performances will expand.

Aside: It has long been common practice to use cork pads for oboes. I am still unsure as to when this practice began, or if it is musically or structurally superior. I wonder what would happen if all pads were made of leather or fish skin?
