Phil Barone Alto Saxophone HR Mouthpiece NY6M
This is a rather rare mouthpiece. I purchased it on eBay in 2015 and used it for a while, but haven't used it much recently. I will provide it after removing and disinfecting the mouthpiece patch. The circular white marks on the patch are not dents, but rather marks from the teeth rubbing against the patch.
The Sound.jp website provides a good explanation of the mouthpiece's characteristics, so I will refer to it below.
No claims or returns, for those who like it.
Recently, rubber with a high synthetic resin content is often used, but older ones seem to have a smell of more rubber content. This Phil Barone also feels rough and smells of rubber. When I blow into it, it has the characteristic of good airflow, making the reed feel softer. This suggests that using a reed one strength harder might be a good idea. Now, when I play it, it has a Meyer-like dark and energetic sound that feels good. It might be slightly darker than a Meyer. Compared to the JAZZ model of the same Phil Barone, it has a slightly more compact and lighter tone, which could be described as more alto-like. I can recommend this to those who want more of a vintage taste than a current Meyer.
