Antique Folk Art Painted Spinning Top Toy Wooden Top Hand Painted Collectible

Incredibly rare beautiful early to mid 19th century American, antique, hand painted stripes on wooden spinning top, green and red hand painted stripes over yellow. The wooden top is hand carved and the central wooden top stem, which spools the cord used to pull the top and spin it, is notched to accept the cord and is painted green, with red and yellow stripes. The tip has some wood loss on one side at the extreme bottom which can be seen from one side in photos, with some wood loss. The top is absolutely 100% untouched and hasn't been rinsed, oiled or cleaned. A remarkable 19th century artifact. This is an incredibly rare piece from my grandfathers belongings and a wonderful example of early American painted wooden ware and cultural artifacts. Aside from the chip on the very tip, and general wear of paint and a few scratches consistent with age, this antique is an amazing piece of history in Good to Very Good overall antique condition. Please view all photos as they are as much a part of the description as the written word. I have taken photos both with and without flashes so you can see the real colors zoomed up close and normal viewing. Happy Shopping! 6 Height × 3 ½ Width #246 Down
