Vintage Roman Catholic Crucifix Pendant – Catacombs of St. Callistus, Rome Striking vintage Catholic crucifix pendant referencing the historic Catacombs of St. Callistus (Catacombe di San Callisto) in Rome. The back is stamped “ROMA – CATACOMBE S. CALLISTO” and features early Christian symbols including a Chi-Rho style monogram and Alpha & Omega imagery. The front displays a detailed raised corpus of Christ mounted over what appears to be a light mother-of-pearl or shell inlay panel, framed in silver-tone metal. Pieces like this were traditionally sold as pilgrimage souvenirs to visitors of sacred sites in Rome. This crucifix dates approximately to the early-to-mid 20th century (circa 1910s–1940s).
