Description
Vintage Nickel Silver Small Brassy Tint Souvenier Teaspoon ES16 The stamp NICKEL SILVER tells us exactly what this serving spoon is made of under its surface. Despite the name, Nickel Silver contains 0% precious silver. It is a base metal alloy typically made of roughly 60% copper, 20% nickel, and 20% zinc. It gets its name purely because the nickel gives the metal a bright, silver-like color. In vintage flatware, nickel silver was the preferred, durable base metal used underneath a thin top coat of real silver plating. The golden-yellow, brassy tint visible across the handle indicates that the micro-thin layer of silver plating has completely worn off over decades of polishing and use, exposing the copper-rich base alloy underneath. Approximately 5. Please use the pictures for the best description of condition and ask all questions before purchase.
