VTG 1978 Signed Studio Pottery Stoneware Candle Lantern Luminaria Hand Thrown

Vintage 1978 hand-thrown studio pottery stoneware candle lantern (luminaria). This is a beautifully crafted one-of-a-kind piece signed and dated 78 on the base by the artist.  Features a cylindrical barrel form with a natural, unglazed stoneware body showing gorgeous horizontal throwing lines from the potters wheel. The surface has warm earth-tone brown coloring with subtle tonal variation throughout.  Decorative hand-pierced holes encircle the body and top, designed to cast beautiful candlelight patterns when lit. A large arch-shaped cutout opening provides access for placing a votive or tealight candle inside. A small opening at the top serves as a heat vent.  This piece captures the essence of 1970s American studio pottery  organic, handmade, and full of character.  Perfect for rustic, bohemian, MCM, or farmhouse decor. Makes a wonderful ambient light source for a patio, porch, mantel, or dining table.  Signed and dated on the base (see photos).  Measurements: Height: approx 5.5 Diameter: approx 4.25  Condition: Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs observed. Normal signs of age consistent with a nearly 50-year-old handmade piece.
