Records from the early Meiji period indicate that materials such as ancient silk, deerskin, and brushed Inden leather were used, and角 (tsuno - horn) parts were used to thread the cords.

Even today, it is used as a small item pouch when wearing traditional Japanese clothing such as yukata or kimono, and there are also modern interpretations that match Western clothing, making it versatile for a wide range of uses.
