Ceremonial笏 (Shaku) - Japanese Yew Wood - Shrine Festival Ritual Tool - Shinto Priest (No. 9)
Ceremonial笏 (Shaku) - Japanese Yew (Ichii) Fine Wood for Shrine Rituals and Ceremonies (No. 9)
This is a ceremonial 笏 (shaku) made from Japanese Yew (Ichii) fine wood. (No. 9)
I was told by the previous generation that this Japanese Yew wood was obtained from the Hida Kuraiyama forest during the Showa era through a forestry office sale (sale of felled trees resulting from forest road maintenance, etc.).
It is a material that is now almost impossible to obtain.
I believe this item, with its beautiful grain, is quite rare.
This item, which had been finished over 10 years ago, has been re-polished.
Please understand that there are some color variations characteristic of Japanese Yew wood.
