What is a Yatate?
A Yatate is a portable writing instrument from the past (Edo period) that combines a brush and an ink holder.
It is called a Yatate (meaning arrow case) even though it is a set of a brush and ink holder, because samurai used to carry it inside their yatate (arrow cases).
This item was actually used by the previous generation and shows signs of careful use, suggesting it carries historical significance. P.S. A cherished item of my great-grandfather.
