Description
Thank you for viewing.

?? This is a 50g pack of unsorted Tadeai (Japanese indigo) seeds. We are running low on the indigo harvested in November 2025. These indigo seeds were grown without pesticides and sun-dried.

This is a generous pack that includes various unsorted pods, some with a few flowers still attached!

Even with flowers attached, the brown seeds appear plump and of good quality. Lightly peeling the outer skin reveals shiny black seeds.

You can sow the seeds with the outer skin still on!
Sorting seeds can be tedious!
However, peeling the outer skin while sorting can also be a fun task.

Why not enjoy indigo dyeing from seed sowing with your family or gardening group?

* 'Akakuki Senbon' (Red Stem Senbon) is a variety of Tadeai with red, upright stems, making it easy for beginners to grow. It produces red stems and small red flowers.

* When sowing seeds, strip the pods and plant about 5-6 seeds per hole, then thin them out later.
(If you have extra seeds, feel free to sow them more generously.)

* For indigo dyeing, harvest the fresh leaves before flowering begins for the highest indigo content.

* Fresh leaf dyeing is easy for beginners to enjoy. Silk dyes well, but wool and cotton also took the dye. (The photos show dyeing after flowering, resulting in a lighter shade.)

* If you wish, we will include instructions for fresh leaf dyeing and decoction dyeing.

* We cannot guarantee that all seeds will germinate. Please purchase after understanding and agreeing to this. (I re-sow seeds in areas with low germination.)

* We plan to ship via Yu-Packet mini (anonymous shipping).

* Immediate purchase is welcome.

* Please feel free to comment if you have any questions.

★Additional Note
On April 26, 2026, the indigo seeds have sprouted. I'm glad because I was curious about the germination rate. (See photos)

* As a bonus, we will include seeds from the 'Akakuki Senbon' harvested in November 2024. These are leftover seeds from last year's sowing, but they should sprout if stored properly. They may take a little longer to sprout, but please try sowing them if you like.
