Treviso is a member of the chicory family, belonging to the Asteraceae family. Due to its vibrant reddish-purple leaves, it is also called Red Chicory or Red Chicory.
It looks similar to purple cabbage but is completely different, characterized by its fluffy, soft texture and unique bitterness. Its refreshing aftertaste makes it a perfect accompaniment to rich dishes.

● Recommended ways to enjoy
Treviso is best eaten raw, and its beautiful reddish-purple color adds vibrancy to salads. It is recommended to eat it with dressing along with other vegetables or tuna, or as a side dish with meat or fish.
It is also delicious when baked in the oven.

● Nutrition
While it doesn't contain exceptionally high levels of specific vitamins or minerals compared to other vegetables, it is characterized by a balanced, small amount of various nutrients. Potassium is among the relatively higher components.

The purple color of Treviso comes from anthocyanin, a type of polyphenol.
Anthocyanins are expected to have strong antioxidant effects and are believed to be beneficial for preventing lifestyle-related diseases.
