Toubou Sugi
Tokoname, one of Japan's six ancient kilns, flourished as the largest pottery production area in Japan during the Heian and Kamakura periods. Since then, it has been producing pottery closely related to daily life for over 900 years.
Toubou Sugi Studio, established in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture in 1892, has been engaged in a wide range of creative activities, from crafts to art, including tableware, flower vases, and ceramic murals, for four generations.
While retaining the rustic and wild nature of Tokoname clay, they express a modern and sophisticated fired finish through traditional techniques and the warmth of handcraftsmanship, creating enriching spaces in daily life.
