【Meiji Period Antique Furniture】Tea Bowl Cabinet Small Tansu | Front Opening Period Furniture Display Shelf

This antique tea caddy from the Meiji era has been carefully repaired to blend seamlessly into modern living.
While preserving the natural texture of the aged wood, the design has been modified to a front-opening door for everyday usability. The entire piece has been polished and finished with a varnish that provides a calm, lustrous sheen.
Originally, it featured a sliding mechanism for opening and closing.

[Repair Details]
? Structural Modification: Customized to a front-opening door for easier access.
? Surface Finish: The exterior has been polished, smoothed to the touch, and then varnished. This enhances the beautiful grain characteristic of old wood.

As this is based on an antique item from the Meiji period, it does not possess the perfect precision of modern mass-produced goods.
? Fit: There may be some slight stiffness or misalignment when opening and closing the door.
? Age-Related Wear: Scratches and other imperfections that could not be removed by polishing may remain.

These are all part of the character and charm of this piece of furniture that has journeyed through over 100 years. We hope to pass it on to someone who can appreciate the warmth and emotion that comes from its imperfections, something not found in rigid, modern furniture.
