Sakai Uchimono - Hon Tanren - Kamagata Knife - Blue Steel - Blade Length 10.5cm - Showing Hamon Pattern. Includes Saya (Sheath).

This is a Sakai Uchimono Kamagata knife.
The blade length is approximately 10.5 cm.
It is single-edged.
The steel is Aogami (Blue Steel).
It is stamped with Sakai Hon-tanren, Aogami.

This is a small Kamagata knife.
The Kamagata is a Kansai-style Usuba (thin-bladed knife) used for decorative cutting, peeling, Katsura-muki (peeling vegetables in a single sheet), chopping, and sashimi. It is a versatile knife that you'll want to have.

There is a beautiful hamon (temper line) on the back.
It had a lot of rust and scratches, but it has been restored and polished to a mirror finish.
There are still some minor scratches and rust (pitting) remaining from the mirror polishing, but we recommend it if you don't mind them.

It comes with the original saya (sheath), but since the retaining pin was missing, a chopstick has been shaved down to serve as a temporary pin.

Although it is old, it has been re-sharpened and polished, so it should last a long time.
It comes with a hamon-patterned saya, is made of Aogami steel, and both the cutting edge and the flat are almost mirror-finished.

Although small, it is recommended for professionals and general households alike.

It has been finished with a Kitayama 8000 grit whetstone and a Shapton 12000 grit whetstone.
It is in excellent cutting condition and ready for immediate use.
