This is a vintage Sears thermal waffle from the 70s.
The white tag from the 70s represents the golden age of store brand clothing. While modern thermals are mainly made with polyester blends, vintage ones are predominantly 100% cotton, featuring a distinct, pronounced waffle texture. This results in a significantly different feel and warmth compared to modern thermals, offering exceptional comfort.
It has a binder neck (thick ribbed collar).
At the time, these were sold as underwear, and their selling point was their functional beauty. Therefore, despite being a size L, the fit is snug and designed to be quite tight, conforming closely to the body.
