▼ This is a rare and valuable Quercus acutissima (Japanese White Oak) log infused with Reishi mushroom mycelium and buried in soil, as it is becoming discontinued and hard to find.
▼ This product is made by inoculating fresh Quercus acutissima logs from Mie Prefecture with Mannentake (Reishi mushroom) mycelium and burying them in soil, creating a natural environment.
▼ As shown in the product images, the cut surfaces and exterior of the log are slightly firm due to the Mannentake mycelium and attached soil. However, a skewer can be inserted into the center of the cut surface, and an awl can be easily inserted, indicating a moderately soft texture.
▼ Images 1 and 3, and images 2 and 4 show the cut surfaces flipped upside down.
▼ This is an ideal spawning log for stag beetles such as Lucanus taurus, Lucanus maculifemoratus, Aegosoma sinica, and other colorful beetle species, as well as difficult-to-breed species that are reluctant to lay eggs.
▼ It is recommended to set up the spawning environment with a slightly dry condition.
