Temperature chalk (Tempil stick, thermo crayon) is a temperature-indicating material in crayon form designed to melt at a specific temperature. It is used by applying it to a heated object and determining whether the object's temperature is above or below the indicated temperature by whether it melts or not. It is widely used for simple temperature measurement in industrial settings, such as for interpass temperature control in welding, heat treatment, and mold temperature control. It is characterized by being color-coded for easy differentiation.

Mechanism
It contains chemical substances with predetermined melting points, and the chalk melts when it reaches the melting temperature of these substances.
Judgment is made as follows: If it melts, the temperature is above the indicated temperature; if it does not melt, it is below the indicated temperature.
By using multiple chalks with different indicated temperatures (e.g., minimum and maximum temperatures), a more precise temperature range can be managed.
