This is a round pot from the prestigious Tokoname-ware kiln, Kyumatsu-gama, which is now out of business and difficult to obtain.
It is resistant to acids and salts, making it ideal for storing ingredients such as miso, umeboshi (pickled plums), and nukazuke (rice bran pickles).
