This is pumice that has been washed, dried, and then baked at high temperatures.
It is sterile, highly breathable and well-draining, yet also retains moisture. It is very hard and resistant to crumbling, making it ideal for mixing with other soil components.
Larger granules are used as drainage material at the bottom of pots.
Its excellent drainage and breathability, along with its hardness, make it suitable for succulent plant soil mixes, including those for Haworthia, Agave, and cacti.
When growing succulents, the most common mistakes leading to root rot are overwatering or using soil with poor drainage and breathability. To ensure healthy growth, we recommend mixing in soil like this.
It is also often used as a top dressing on potted plants for aesthetic appeal.
