This is a shamisen for Nagauta (a style of traditional Japanese narrative singing).
It is a fine-necked model, a high-class instrument made with premium materials.

The neck is made of rosewood, with a solid construction featuring gold inlay and a double groove.
The body is a Nagauta-style body, with a superb Koshi-Aya-sugi (a type of wood grain pattern) interior. The wood grain is dense, with many Tochi-me (burl patterns), and it has a beautiful luster, clearly indicating a quality superior to mass-produced items.

The skin is dog skin, with no tears or critical damage.
There are minor scratches and scuffs due to age, but no cracks, warping, or other defects that would impede playing.

The tuning pegs are a three-piece set made of natural materials.
Gold (containing 18K gold) is used around the tuning pegs.
