Description
This is a tsukebayashi (tight drum) used in Noh and folk music, complete with a drum stand (teren-dai). The drum body itself is estimated to be nearly 100 years old.

I previously purchased it used on Mercari as a display piece, drawn to the maki-e (lacquer decoration) on the body.
It had a cute plover pattern, but in reality, it flaked off easily when touched. The black lacquer that remained was actually a result of the flaked areas being touched up with marker.
Resigned to it, I decided to remove the skin for parts and dispose of it. However, upon removing the skin, I discovered strong hand-carved marks, likely indicating village names from the Meiji to Taisho eras. I felt it would be a waste to discard a drum that had survived for nearly 100 years. With renewed determination, I commissioned a Japanese musical instrument shop to reapply the lacquer and recreate the maki-e.
(The cost of restoring the lacquer and maki-e exceeded my purchase price by more than 10 times... several times the current listing price...)

...The restored maki-e is far from the previous image; in fact, it's completely different. The delicate, ephemeral charm that evoked a sense of wabi-sabi has vanished, replaced by a pop, light, and modern impression. However, I think it's quite cute in its own way.

I personally have another drum I favor and do not anticipate using this one. Therefore, I will be selling it with the skin, cord, and stand attached.

The size is a standard tsukebayashi size for Noh and folk music.
If you would like to confirm the exact dimensions, please leave a comment, and I will measure it for you.
Due to its thickness, it has a considerable weight.

Returns and cancellations will not be accepted for any reason.

*The skin and cord will be selected from my current stock and attached, so they may differ from those shown in the images.
(The quality and condition of use will be the same.)
