We sell handmade shinobue flutes made by a father and daughter. The father has been a shinobue instructor in Shimane Prefecture for about 25 years and is also a flute maker. We craft shinobue and kagurabue flutes from female bamboo (shinodake) that grows along the Shizuma River (formerly Ginzan River), which has been dried for over 3 years.

◇Description◇
The 3-hon-choshi (key of G) is a flute whose length is just enough for an average person's fingers to reach. Its resonant low notes and breathy high notes create an indescribable tone, making it a flute that any shinobue player would want to try.

◯Holes: Inner surface coated with synthetic vermilion lacquer (kashu)
◯Outer surface: Coated with black synthetic lacquer (kashu)
◯Wrapping thread: Light brown thread

A weight of approximately 20g is placed inside the head joint to stabilize the flute while playing.
The reflector in the embouchure is made with putty to prevent melting even in the summer heat.
Transparent lacquer is applied to the wrapping thread for a beautiful and long-lasting finish.
The flute is tuned to produce low notes (1st octave), middle notes (2nd octave), and high notes up to the 4th octave by adjusting breath strength.
The tuning is set to the Western scale of G major (the 3-hon-choshi of shinobue) and matched to the middle notes (2nd octave) with a tuner at 440Hz, allowing for ensemble playing and performance with other instruments.
