Why not try targeting bigfin reef squid with live bait in between sabiki fishing or eging?

Simply hook live horse mackerel or small fish caught with sabiki fishing onto the hooks of this rig, attach a float, and cast it into the sea.

Since they are alive, the horse mackerel and small fish will swim freely in the water.

Then, squid such as bigfin reef squid will find them and prey on them. When they extend their tentacles to catch them or embrace them, they get caught on the umbrella hooks, not the hooks used to impale the bait.

This is the mechanism.

Since there are also automatic hook-setting rigs, even beginners can easily catch bigfin reef squid without needing to set the hook.

The guided rigs are highly effective when squid are wary.

Using live horse mackerel or small fish, the probability of catching squid is significantly higher than with eging.
