Tempera is a multi-sample, 16-voice polyphonic granular synthesizer.
You can think of it as arranging 8 stereo tape tracks to form a kind of 2D tape surface. You can operate it by imagining your finger as a tape head (aka grain) generator (aka emitter) moving across this surface.

The main control interface (touch grid) is a polyphonically operable touch-sensitive surface, on which emitters are placed, generating streams of grains.

It can be used for a wide range of applications, including: percussive drum beds, pad stations, samplers, granular cloud generators, ambient machines, remix & sample chop instruments, recorders, accompaniment for other instruments, procedural composition tools, sample wranglers, and in-the-box resamplers.
