Vintage Miniature Porcelain Baby Carriage Occupied Japan

This is a vintage mid-century miniature porcelain baby carriage figurine. These tiny collectible planters or trinket holders were highly popular mid-century novelties, frequently given as baby shower gifts or nursery decorations. These specific miniatures were produced in Japan during the 1940s and 1950s. This is stamped on the bottom “Made in Occupied Japan. It features a signature hand-painted white gloss finish with gold gilt trim accents on the canopy hood. One side is decorated with a large, dimensional applied porcelain rose flanked by smaller blue flowers and green leaves. While styled like a classic baby pram, the open top allowed it to function as a tiny cactus/succulent planter, a toothpick container, or a decorative bedside ring dish.
