Set of vintage, mid-century hand-painted ceramic salt and pepper shakers, produced in Japan between the 1930s and 1950s. The shakers feature a signature rustic aesthetic with a classic tapered square profile, depicting a quaint countryside cottage or cabin nestled among lush green trees. This specific scene is frequently found on vintage Japanese export kitchenware and pottery from that era. The tops of these shakers feature painted detailing, typically highlighted with a subtle gold gilding on the top. Some wear of the gold on one shaker(pictured). Original cork stoppers. No chips or cracks.
