Vtg Black Ash Splint Buttocks Basket Handwoven Appalachian Egg Rib Basket 10.5"

The basket boasts a gorgeous, rich golden-honey natural patina that has developed beautifully with age. Because black ash is a slow-growing swamp wood that requires an intense hand-pounding process to split along its natural growth rings, pieces of this density, fine weave, and unique form are incredibly rare to find online. * Material: Authentic Hand-Pounded Black Ash Wood Splint * Form & Style: Regional Hybrid / Southern Appalachian Ribbed Egg (Buttocks / Melon) * Length: 10.5 inches * Width: 9.5 inches * Height: 7.25 inches (to the top of the handle) * Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
