Vintage Progress Poppy Wreath Quilt Top Unfinished Appliqué Pre Stamped

A remarkable unfinished vintage Progress appliqué quilt project featuring the Poppy Wreath design. Large, dramatic poppies in rich red, orange, burgundy and yellow are arranged with green foliage on a cream ground.  This quilt was started many years ago but never completed, leaving fascinating evidence of the original quilt-making process. The cream fabric retains extensive blue pre-stamped quilting and placement lines, while many appliqué pieces still have their long temporary basting stitches in place. Some areas have been sewn, while others remain unfinished.  The edge of the fabric retains portions of the original printed identification, including PROGRESS and N.Y.C. Extra green appliqué fabric remains attached/tucked with the project. The name MARY KAY has also been embroidered in red on the quilt.  This is an unfinished quilt project rather than a completed quilt: there is no finished backing/batting construction, and the appliqué and quilting require completion.  Vintage condition with age-related discoloration/spotting, unfinished stitching, loose threads and raw fabric edges. I have intentionally left everything exactly as found rather than attempting to clean, remove basting stitches or complete the work. Please review photographs carefully.  An unusually beautiful survivor for a quilt collector, textile historian, accomplished quilter, or someone wishing to preserve and finish an earlier maker's work.
