The drag checker is the first fishing tool developed by BOUZ Production. It is their first product that embodies making fishing scientific. It allows for easy and clear numerical representation of drag settings, which can be somewhat unreliable by feel.
A drag brake mechanism is a mechanism that releases the brake when a certain amount of tension (pulling force on the line) is applied to the line, maintaining a constant tension on the line. To utilize the drag effectively, it is important to set the drag so that the line is released before the tension exceeds the line's breaking strength. However, if the drag setting is too weak, the line will be released unnecessarily, increasing the probability of losing the fish by getting snagged on roots or other obstacles. Therefore, setting the appropriate drag is essential for fishing. The drag checker can measure at any position on the tackle. It also has a holding needle function that remembers the measured value, allowing for easy measurement by one person. Furthermore, drag can be measured even after casting the rig or lure, making it possible to set the drag according to changes in line winding amount.
