Yamanaka Kumiki Works Giraffe Fine Wood Craft Wooden Puzzle

This is an unopened, deadstock Giraffe puzzle from a series of kumiki animal puzzles conceived by Hirokichi Yamanaka, the third-generation craftsman of Yamanaka Kumiki Kobo.
The label is still attached with a staple.
Production of these kumiki puzzles has now ceased, making them difficult to obtain.

The third-generation craftsman would take his young son, now the fourth-generation craftsman, to the zoo every weekend to observe animals. While accurately capturing the characteristics of the motifs, the puzzle's common denominator-like unique deformation creates a charming and beautiful form. This traditional craft, also known as a puzzle for adults, makes a statement as an interior decoration or ornament.

This item was purchased around 2018 at Bath House, the shop and office of Swimsuit Department in Kita-Aoyama, Tokyo.

Dimensions are approximately: Height 23.5 cm x Width 9.5 cm x Depth (Thickness) 4 cm. Please note that these are amateur measurements and may contain slight errors.
The included cardboard packaging has some damage and signs of age.

As I personally enjoy vintage furniture and used clothing, these items have been stored alongside them. Therefore, those particularly sensitive to odors should exercise caution when bidding. I do not smoke, so that should not be an issue.
