Chinese Hangzhou Wood Jewelry Box Carved Green Stone Metal Hardware

Vintage Chinese wooden jewelry/keepsake box from Hangzhou, China, featuring a rich deep red/burgundy finish, ornate metal fittings and a beautiful carved pale green stone medallion on the lid.  The openwork stone carving features a floral/lotus-style design surrounded by decorative Chinese endless-knot motifs. The stone is cool to the touch but has not been professionally tested or authenticated as jade, so it is conservatively described as carved stone.  Interior is lined in vivid red fabric with a large storage compartment and smaller divided section for rings or jewelry. Bottom retains the original plaque marked “中国 杭州 / MADE IN CHINA.”  Vintage condition with scratches, scuffs, finish wear, metal oxidation/patina and age-related interior wear.
