Sanuki Lacquerware Kinma-nuri Small Box - Inkstone Case
Kinma-nuri is a unique lacquerware technique originating from Southeast Asia. Lacquer is applied layer by layer onto bamboo or wooden objects. Once a thick lacquer film is formed, a sharp tool called a ken is used to carve patterns into the surface. Colored lacquer is then filled into these carved lines. After drying, the surface is polished flat, revealing the colored lacquer patterns within the carved lines.
