Characteristics of Yamanaka lacquerware
Yamanaka lacquerware is characterized by its use of vertical wood grain (tateki-dori), where the shape of the vessel follows the growth direction of the wood, allowing the wood grain pattern to be expressed with a natural texture. This results in robust lacquerware that is resistant to warping due to drying, enabling exquisite finishes not only for bowls but also for thinly sliced items and lidded containers.
This item is old but has not been used.
Unused item.
Simply taking it out of the box and gazing at it is incredibly soothing.
The warmth of zelkova, a heavy yet refined form.
I think it would be suitable for anything.
It also makes a wonderful interior decoration.
