Up for sale is a stunning vintage Italian majolica garlic and onion keeper handcrafted by Maioliche Deruta in Umbria, Italy. This charming art pottery piece features a high structural basket-weave-style handle accented with classic cobalt blue hand-painted brushstrokes. The main body is beautifully decorated with a vibrant, traditional Italian floral motif showcasing rich orange, deep blue, green, and golden-yellow tones against a milky tin-glazed background.  The defining feature of this functional kitchen counter piece is its original recessed, drop-in lid, designed with 16 pierced ventilation holes. This provides the optimal dark, dry airflow required to keep garlic bulbs, shallots, or small onions fresh and prevent them from sprouting prematurely. It is raised on a clean pedestal footed base and the glazed interior makes it easy to wipe clean. The underside is fully marked with the official Maioliche Deruta - DEP backstamp enclosing an antique urn insignia.
