COPPERCUTTS Hand w/ Spiral Ornament Or Lapel Pin SouthWest Copper

This 3 x 3.5 Hand with Spiral Pin or Ornament is totally unique. Inspired by the natural beauty, wildlife, and Native American heritage of Arizona, they use natural copper, contrasted with patinaed copper, laminated to hardwood, to capture the spirit of the Southwest. By using the process described below, the look of expensive solid copper artwork is reproduced in a lightweight and inexpensive form.  The first step is bonding a thin sheet of heat treated copper to 1/8 thick birch plywood. Detailed designs, most including inlays, are then cut by hand using the tiny blades of a scroll saw. The various pieces are separated, and portions of the design are oxidized, to create an aged/mineralized effect. After the acid treating is complete, the inlays are re-installed; then the entire piece, including the back and edges, is sprayed with multiple coats of clear lacquer. This is set up to be a lapel pin , but there is a small hole in the top that you can attach a string through to use as an
