Sasano Itto-bori Ebisu & Daikokuten 2-Piece Set
25.08 $
Description
This is a set of two wooden dolls, Ebisu and Daikokuten, featuring the traditional Yonezawa craft Sasano Ittobori.
The charm of these pieces lies in their simple wood grain, unique to Ittobori carving, and their soft, hand-painted expressions. Ebisu holds a sea bream and a fishing rod, while Daikokuten carries a mallet, creating an auspicious combination. They are popular as decorations to invite prosperity and good fortune, especially for business.
The artist's signature is on the bottom, conveying the feel of handcrafted work distinct from mass-produced items. While the specific artist's name cannot be definitively identified, these appear to be workshop pieces from the Sasano Ittobori tradition of the Showa period.
