This writing bureau is crafted from Karin wood, exuding both a sense of weight and dignity. Karin, a precious wood native to Southeast Asia, was once used for prestigious furniture and Buddhist altars, making it a rare material. Its hardness, weight, and the luster that deepens with polishing are its defining characteristics, truly making it a piece for a lifetime.
This item generously utilizes Karin innocence wood throughout. The patina and varied grain developed over time create an aesthetic reminiscent of a work of art. The intricate carvings found in various places, along with the brass fittings, have also gained a rich patina over time, enhancing the charm unique to antique furniture.
When opened, it provides a spacious work surface with a depth of 71cm, making it ideal for writing or computer work. The internal shelves and drawers are highly functional, making it an excellent piece of practical furniture as well.
Karin innocence furniture is rarely produced today and is extremely rare on the market. It is truly a work of art beyond furniture that adds a substantial presence to any space, whether Japanese or Western-style. This is a masterpiece we wish to offer to those with a discerning taste.
Notes:
◆Gap in Upper Small Drawers: There is a slight gap in the two small drawers at the top (see images 19 & 20). This does not affect usability but please understand it as a characteristic of antique furniture.
◆Sliding of Bottom Drawer: The bottom drawer is heavy due to the Karin innocence wood and slides a bit stiffly. This is due to the wood's natural movement over time and does not affect its use, but we hope you will appreciate it as part of the charm of antique furniture. This is a piece that allows you to feel the unique texture and history of antique furniture. Please feel free to comment with any questions or price negotiations.
