Vintage Apple Basket - Hand Painted Signed Beth Kankel 1981 Woven Picnic Basket

A sweet piece of tole painting history. This vintage woven wood splint picnic basket features a hand painted apple and blossom motif on the hinged lid, complete with a delicate vine border and tiny hand dotted flowers along the edges. Signed and dated by the artist, Beth Kankel, 1981, this basket carries real folk art charm and is genuinely vintage at 45 years old.  The basket has a swing handle and a wood toggle closure wrapped in cord, all original to the piece. The weave shows lovely age patina in a soft driftwood gray tone that only comes from decades of use.  Perfect displayed on a counter, used to gather produce, or as a charming catchall for mail or craft supplies. A wonderful addition to any farmhouse, cottagecore, or country kitchen collection.  Measures approximately 12.5 x 12 inches, 6.75 inches tall, with a 4.75 inch handle rise.  Vintage condition, sold as is, with light wear consistent with age.
