Description
The composition features a deep red background with multiple concentric circles appearing to float, evoking the word mirage. The circles, while having a clear form, blur at their edges, flickering between light and shadow, existence and nothingness, to stir the viewer's senses.

This work is a two-part series. On the back of the artwork, there is a note stating February 1976, a work by Teiko Naruishi at age 54, and a handwritten annotation: Redrawn with the same motif in 1986. This suggests that the artist revisited the same theme ten years later, from age 54 to 64, attempting some form of change, deepening, or reinterpretation.

Teiko Naruishi's works consistently hold the artistic question of How can something with form become formless? The temperature hidden in the shades of red, the eternity contained within the circular shape, the dialogue of the blank spaces – all intersect in a poetic and meditative journey of abstraction.
