1909 De Profundis Oscar Wilde Ravenna Edition G.P. Putnam's Sons Antique Book
Oscar Wilde
Up for sale is a scarce 1909 volume of Oscar Wilde's De Profundis, issued as part of Putnam's uniform Ravenna Edition. This 1909 printing contains the expanded material not found in the initial 1905 release, including letters written from Reading Gaol and his reflections on prison life. The red cloth binding shows typical light shelf wear, softening at the spine ends, and mild rubbing to the corners. The gold gilt signature on the cover remains clean. Binding is holding together well. The interior page listing the 15 volumes features small handwritten pencil checkmarks and crosses from a previous owner tracking the set. The pages show natural age toning appropriate for a 115+ year old book, but remain otherwise clean, intact, and highly readable. The text block is cracked/split at the middle binding spread (pages 64–65). While the stitching remains intact and pages are not actively loose or falling out, the inner spine bonding has separated, causing the book to lay completely flat at this section. Please review the photos carefully to evaluate the condition of this antique volume.
